I adore this ring so much, I was tempted NOT to write this post. I would love to keep it! The second piece in our countdown introduces a new stone to the Privé collection: opal.
What it is: 4.50 carat black opal set in 18K yellow gold. Accent stones comprise round diamonds, green tsavorite garnets, and pear-shape sapphires.
Why it’s cool: This black opal has extraordinary play of color. Its vivid blues and greens are striking. The ring sits low against the finger, making it easy to wear. High-polish yellow gold plays off the hue palette of the opal.
Why it’s “Privé”: This ring transitions from a classic style, featuring pavé-set diamond and garnet melee, while embracing an edgy, more stylish look. The piece was designed specifically for this opal, with the sapphire pair and tsavorites distinctively selected to accentuate the gem’s play of color.

Gearing up for Jewelry Week in Las Vegas is the most exciting time for me at Omi! While busily sketching and crafting new pieces, we cannot wait for their official introduction in just a few short weeks. Here is a “sneak peek” countdown for some of the newest Privé designs. This fancy-colored sapphire ring was just finished and released from the shop!
What it is: 5.77 carat emerald-cut fancy sapphire set in 18K yellow gold. The ring features a high-polish finish and pavé-set diamonds on its sides.
Why it’s cool: This fancy sapphire has a lighter tone in comparison to many of the darker, royal blue sapphires most often shown in the market. Its pastel hue is on-trend, and is enhanced by the brightness of the yellow gold frame. Also, while it is common for an elongated stone to be set vertically on the finger, this stone is set in opposition. This creates a visually slimming look on wider fingers, as well.
Why it’s “Privé”: This ring unveils a different style. Without any diamonds viewable from the top, the sapphire is the sole focus of the piece. While its hue is light in tone, the color is distributed evenly throughout the stone. During the creative process, we designed the split shank and the sides of the ring to be open, allowing the sapphire’s color to be viewed from every angle.
Omi Privé has been recognized by jewelry industry for the third year in a row!
Two of Omi Privé’s sapphire and diamond platinum rings have been awarded First Place in the seventh Annual JCK Jewelers’ Choice Awards. Presented by JCK Magazine, the Jewelers’ Choice Awards are recognized as the industry’s highest honor for excellence in jewelry design and craftsmanship in a variety of categories. Retail jewelers throughout the world may cast votes through JCK’s web site for their favorites over a three-month duration. Omi Privé’s one-of-a-kind pink sapphire and diamond ring was also recognized as a finalist in the category of “Best Ring Design over $10,000.”
The first winning sapphire ring is handcrafted in platinum and won in the “Platinum Jewelry over $10,000” category. Sixteen diamond-encrusted prongs hoist its one-of-a-kind 17.00 carat no-heat Sri Lankan sapphire. Niveet Nagpal, head designer and President of Omi Privé, describes the unique oval gem as the inspiration for the piece, “The intensity of the blue in this stone is extremely rare for an unheated sapphire. I immediately realized it deserved a setting just as unique. I studied its individual properties and envisioned a design that would enliven and compliment the splendor of the stone.”
First Place Winner, Platinum Jewelry over $10,000
The second sapphire ring won first place in the “Bridal Jewelry over $10,000” category. A stunning 3.50 carat radiant-cut sapphire is framed perfectly by a double border of round sapphires and brilliant diamond rounds. Handcrafted in platinum, the hidden beauty of this piece lies underneath, where two inner baskets of hand-set French pavé diamonds and blue sapphires cross to form its base.
First Place Winner, Bridal Jewelry over $10,000
“We are honored to have won this year, and we thank all of the jewelry retailers who voted for Omi Privé. Our continued determination is to bring the stones to life through the jewelry in which they are presented,” concludes Nagpal.
Finalist, Best Ring Design over $10,000

We enjoyed watching the Red Carpet last night (after it dried out from a sprinkler SNAFU!). At Omi Privé we love to present the most colorful and elegant jewelry designs, which always make the wearer stand out in a crowd! Below we suggest some of our latest designs to compliment the fashion seen at this year’s Golden Globes:
Cate Blanchett won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, for her roll in “Blue Jasmine”. Our 3-stone sapphire and diamond ring is a good way to play up the “Blue”!
Elizabeth Moss looked stunning in a black and deep red dress while accepting her Best Actress in a miniseries or TV Movie award for her role in “Top of the Lake”. This marquise shape ruby ring is a perfect compliment to the geometric shapes seen in her dress.
Jennifer Lawrence was one of the lone few who accessorized with color at the awards. Her simple white and black dress pairs well with platinum and diamond drop emerald earrings.
Expectant mother, Drew Barrymore, looked so sweet in her pink and orange leaf adorned gown. We’ve got the perfect pink sapphire ring for this dress or anytime (since she is expecting another girl!). The rose gold accents are a nice touch that play off the cushion shaped center stone and halo of round pink sapphires.
Julia Roberts wowed with her interesting dress-shirt-combo at the Globes this year. To add a little color to any black and white ensemble, classic ruby and diamond earrings are a great choice (and match her nail polish!).
Maria Menounos was pretty in pink with some “hidden” details in the cutouts of her bright gown. Our 11.24 carat pink sapphire ring holds the surprise of rose gold detailing and a round peek-a-boo pink sapphire on the profile.
This green tourmaline and yellow gold Omi Privé ring is perfect for Reese’s aqua gown and her new “long-bob” blonde hair.
Taylor Swift’s uniquely colored dress, similar to the Pantone color, Cayenne, is a perfect spicy match for this spinel and diamond ring!
