Accessorizing with the Colors of the Season
The trend-setting institution that is Pantone shares with the world on an ongoing basis the most important fashion colors for Spring and Fall seasons. What do you do with this information? Do you immediately go out shopping, with palette in hand, to ensure you are on trend with your personal apparel? Or do you give it a quick glance, pick out a couple of your favorites and file it away for future reference? The important aspect from our perspective of this guide to the upcoming season’s colors is how do we recommend our jewelry as an accessory to outifts in these hues.
For example, let’s look at what we might suggest for Island Paradise, a light, refreshing blue color. The obvious choice if you were the type of person who likes matching accessories, would be something with aquamarine as the featured gemstone. The light, airy feel of aqua would pair beautifully with this color. What about a complementary color? We would suggest something with a pastel feel, such as a light pink or peach. A piece featuring a light pink sapphire, spinel, morganite, or in this case a Padparadscha sapphire, would be a great match.
If we look at the more “earthy” colors in this palette, aside from finding matching colors, we will also have the opportunity to select colors that really pop against a warmer base color. If we look at the the color Greenery, which is also Pantone’s “Color of the Year” for 2017, we would match this color with gemstones such as peridot, chrysoberyl or green tourmaline, like this ring below. On the other side of the spectrum, you would look to something in a bolder purple, red or pink as a suitable companion. As you can see from this Duet ring, we love combining green with purple spinel centers.
For another example, let’s consider a rich blue color like Lapis Blue. One of our specialties is blue sapphire, so matching this color with existing Omi jewelry is relatively easy. The complementary color for a bold blue color like this would be an equally bold orange hue – which we would find in our new orange tourmaline ring seen below. We can also find similar colors in spessartite garnets and orange sapphires.
There is a myriad of options when it comes to accessorizing this Spring’s fashion color palette with fabulous colored gemstones. Knowing and understanding how colors accent each other will go a long way in developing your fashion credibility amongst your peers and clients. Pay attention to what the trends are and take the time to pick out the best options for you to ensure you are trend-savvy in your day-to-day life.
Pantone, the world-renowned authority of color, has announced their color predictions for Spring 2015. Although we don’t yet know the official color of 2015 (stay tuned in December for the announcement!), we are seeing prominent colors at Fashion Week including; aquamarine, lucite green and strawberry ice. Pantone executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, states “The color choices for 2015 follow a minimalistic, ‘en plain air’ theme, taking cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.” Colored gemstones are the perfect natural representation or accent to spring’s hottest colors! We’re excited to present 9 of the most striking tones for the upcoming season with descriptive notes by Pantone.
“Both tasty and tasteful, Strawberry Ice is a confection color that evokes a feeling of being “in the pink,” emitting a flattering and healthy glow.” Our Padparadscha sapphire and diamond ring is the perfect delight accented with 18K rose gold filigree. Pairs well with Tangerine and Toasted Almond.
“Aquamarine, an airy, ethereal blue with a cool, dreamy feel mixes will with other blues and greens in this season’s color palette.” Feel the breeze of the ocean all day with our 6.80 carat emerald cut aquamarine and diamond ring. Pairs well with Marsala, Classic Blue and Lucite Green.
“Classic blue is a strong and reliable anchor color and, with its waterborne qualities is perceived as thoughtful and introspective.” Classic Blue seems best represented by sapphire, as seen in these cushion sapphire and diamond double halo earrings. Classic Blue combines well with Lucite Green, Scuba Blue and Custard for bold looks.
“Custard serves as an all-encompassing yellow for the spring palette, which can be combined with Classic Blue for a maritime look.” Say “Ahoy” with our round yellow sapphire and diamond ring set in 18K yellow and white gold.
“Fresh and clarifying, cool and refreezing, Lucite Green has a minty glow. Light in weight and also in tone, Lucite Green seems almost transparent.” We can’t help but point out this color and transparency is perfectly represented through Paraíba tourmaline! Two Paraíba cabochons totaling 25.31 carats are cradled by 18K yellow gold surrounded by diamonds and round Paraíba tourmalines. Pairs well with Classic Blue and Scuba Blue.
“Sensual and bold, delicious Marsala is a daringly inviting tone that nurtures; exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind and soul.” A robust shade, hints of Marsala can be seen in this imperial topaz, ruby and diamond ring set in 18K rose gold. Pairs well with Aquamarine.
“Scuba Blue offers a feeling of escape as it is reminiscent of a tropical ocean. This stirring and energizing shade takes us off to an exotic paradise that is pleasant and inviting, even if only a fantasy.” Make your fantasy come true by keeping this vibrant blue close to your heart with our blue zircon and diamond pendant. Pairs well with Classic Blue and Lucite Green.
“Spontaneous and gregarious, Tangerine is a juicy orange shade that is energizing, yet not jarring to the eye. Versatile Tangerine is striking enough to stand on its own and adds vitality to a printed pattern.” This fancy orange sapphire and diamond ring set in 18K rose gold is a great stone/metal combo to represent this tangy color! Pairs well with Strawberry Ice and Toasted Almond.
“A sun-tanned neutral, Toasted Almond offers comforting warmth and is indicative of a spontaneous spring, summer feeling.” Because Toasted Almond pairs well with Tangerine and Strawberry Ice, a great combination of those two hues can be found in our 21.88 carat cushion morganite and diamond earrings.
We enjoyed watching the Red Carpet last night (after it dried out from a sprinkler SNAFU!). At Omi Privé we love to present the most colorful and elegant jewelry designs, which always make the wearer stand out in a crowd! Below we suggest some of our latest designs to compliment the fashion seen at this year’s Golden Globes:
Cate Blanchett won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, for her roll in “Blue Jasmine”. Our 3-stone sapphire and diamond ring is a good way to play up the “Blue”!
Elizabeth Moss looked stunning in a black and deep red dress while accepting her Best Actress in a miniseries or TV Movie award for her role in “Top of the Lake”. This marquise shape ruby ring is a perfect compliment to the geometric shapes seen in her dress.
Jennifer Lawrence was one of the lone few who accessorized with color at the awards. Her simple white and black dress pairs well with platinum and diamond drop emerald earrings.
Expectant mother, Drew Barrymore, looked so sweet in her pink and orange leaf adorned gown. We’ve got the perfect pink sapphire ring for this dress or anytime (since she is expecting another girl!). The rose gold accents are a nice touch that play off the cushion shaped center stone and halo of round pink sapphires.
Julia Roberts wowed with her interesting dress-shirt-combo at the Globes this year. To add a little color to any black and white ensemble, classic ruby and diamond earrings are a great choice (and match her nail polish!).
Maria Menounos was pretty in pink with some “hidden” details in the cutouts of her bright gown. Our 11.24 carat pink sapphire ring holds the surprise of rose gold detailing and a round peek-a-boo pink sapphire on the profile.
This green tourmaline and yellow gold Omi Privé ring is perfect for Reese’s aqua gown and her new “long-bob” blonde hair.
Taylor Swift’s uniquely colored dress, similar to the Pantone color, Cayenne, is a perfect spicy match for this spinel and diamond ring!

Manager of Fine Jewelry, Omi Privé
Autumn marks three of my favorite things: the transition to a new wardrobe (bring on the boots, chunky sweaters, and cozy scarves), the infamous Fall drinks (who can live without pumpkin spiced lattes and chai tea?), and the very best – new jewelry! From light pastels to warm neutral tones, softer colors are everywhere, especially in fine jewelry. I have spotlighted five Omi Privé favorites below. Not only do these accentuate the near transitions to Winter, but each is truly a year-round investment piece.
This ring boasts an 8.66 carat cushion-cut spessartite garnet center. The 18K rose gold setting compliments the gemstone’s rich orange color. Bright and beautiful, this garnet exudes the idyllic tone for Fall, and will add a brilliant “pop” of color to a year-round wardrobe (Style RC1012-SGCU).
Handcrafted in Platinum, these stud earrings feature two round garnets weighing a total of 1.43 carats. The orange spessartite centers are accentuated by the pavé-set diamond halo frames. These studs are stunning, yet effortless, for everyday Fall wear (Style SS1050-SGRD).
The 6.22 carat spessartite garnet in the center of this pendant was mined in Nigeria. It presents optimal color, not reflecting any excess brown or yellow. The Platinum design features a double halo, with small round spessartites set in the inner 18K rose gold frame. White diamonds add contrast, and also emphasize the garnets’ vibrant orange color (Style PC1110-SGPE).
This ring features a 6.72 carat cushion-cut pink tourmaline center. The piece was specially created in 18K rose gold to flawlessly frame the stone, and highlight its hue. The combination is perfect to accentuate Autumn’s warm tones, and the color transitions beautifully to Winter, Spring and Summer (Style RC1230-TPCU).
This 11.11 carat topaz was mined in Ouro Preto in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Its fine golden-yellow hue is known as Imperial color. The stone ideally reflects its trichroism, with its noticeable red shades able to be seen from the sides. To bring out this feature, the 18K rose gold setting was specifically crafted with small round rubies set on both sides bordering its frame (Style RC1450-PTOV).
Which piece is your favorite this Fall?
Omi Privé Also Named Grand Prize Winner of
First W Magazine Readers’ Choice Award
(Los Angeles, CA—April 2013) Omi Privé’s tsavorite and diamond platinum ring design has been named the “Best Platinum over $10,000” in the Sixth Annual JCK Jewelers’ Choice Awards. Hailed as the jewelry industry’s highest honor, the Jewelers’ Choice Awards, presented by JCK Magazine, honor excellence in jewelry design and craftsmanship in a variety of categories. Voting is held online through JCK Online, an industry website, where all retail jewelers cast votes for their favorites over a three-month duration. Omi Privé’s pink sapphire and diamond 3-stone rose gold ring was also recognized as a finalist in the category of “Best Bridal $5,001-$10,000.”
The winning tsavorite ring is handcrafted in platinum, and was designed specifically for the center 7.10 carat cushion-cut tsavorite garnet. It is accented with 0.85 carats of brilliant round diamonds. Niveet Nagpal, head designer and President of Omi Privé, describes the gemstone as the inspiration for the piece, “This tsavorite emanates a multitude of hues like few garnets we have seen. It is rare in size, color and brilliance. We sought to create a ring design as unique as its mint-green color, but that would not overshadow the rarity and beauty of the stone itself.”
This year also marks the start of a unique consumer award that was organized to honor Jewelers’ Choice finalists. After voting concluded for the Jewelers’ Choice Awards, JCK submitted the top 10 “jewelers’ favorites” to W Magazine for further participation in the W Magazine Readers’ Choice Award. W Magazine readers voted, and selected Omi Privé’s platinum tsavorite ring as the winner.
“It is an honor that the 7.10 carat tsavorite ring has been acclaimed amongst our industry’s top jewelers. We were especially humbled when it was also chosen by the readers of W Magazine. We are thrilled that this rare gemstone can now be showcased as an Omi Privé winner!” remarks Nagpal.
